A 21-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died from head injuries in Liverpool.

David Gary Skelly, 53, was attacked shortly before he fell near a row of shops in Scargreen Avenue, Norris Green, at 2200 BST on Tuesday.

He died in hospital later. Police had appealed for information about two men who had been at the scene shouting for an ambulance to be called.

The detained man is in custody and is due to be questioned.

Det Ch Insp Chris Green, from Merseyside Police, said: "There were a number of people around at the time of his collapse and I urge them to come forward."

CCTV captured some of his last movements, but there are gaps in the footage that police want to piece together.
