Inquiry after man dies in street in Liverpool

Police are investigating the unexplained death of a 53-year-old man who collapsed in a Liverpool street.

He was walking home from a night out with friends when he fell in Scargreen Avenue, Norris Green, at about 2200 BST on Tuesday. He died later in hospital.

Officers want to speak to a group of young people who were in the area at the time, particularly two men who shouted for the ambulance to be called.

A post mortem examination is due to be conducted later.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said there were gaps in CCTV footage which captured some of the man's last movements and they wanted to make sure he had not been attacked before he collapsed.

Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
