Martin Joyce: Man's 1999 disappearance now treated as murder

Detectives investigating the disappearance of a man 17 years ago have launched a murder investigation.
Martin Joyce, from Manchester, was reported missing in 1999 and has not been seen since.
Greater Manchester Police said officers have now been led to believe Mr Joyce may not be alive, and have begun searches in the city as part of the investigation.
Mr Joyce, from Ancoats, was 29 at the time of his disappearance.

Police have been searching the former Bank of England pub in Parr Street in Great Ancoats.
Bob Tonge, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "Martin's family are being supported by specialist officers through this extremely challenging time and are desperate for answers.
"We believe there may be some people in Manchester who have information about his disappearance and I'm urging anyone with information about what may have happened to him to contact police."
