A 26-year-old man is in a "critical" condition after being found on fire outside a Frankie & Benny's restaurant in Greater Manchester.

Police said he was found at Sandbrook Retail Park in Rochdale at about 11:20 BST. He was airlifted to hospital.

He was suffering from severe burns from the waist down, including his hands, the North West Ambulance Service said.

Frankie & Benny's said the man was not a customer.

Greater Manchester Police said he was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital, which has a specialist burns unit, for treatment.

The force added inquiries into the incident were "ongoing".
