Two stabbed as groups clash in Manchester city centre

Two men were stabbed in a violent clash between two groups of men in central Manchester.

The disorder broke out on Deansgate near The Press Club shortly afte 04:30 BST, police said.

The two men, aged 26 and 29, were both stabbed in the stomach and are in a stable condition.

Police have revealed the two groups had fled by the time officers arrived. Det Insp Adrian Gallagher described it as a "violent altercation".
