A man found dead in a flat in Rochdale was "brilliant, the best dad that anyone could ask for", his son said.

Joseph O'Hanlon, 61, was found with multiple injuries at a property on Town Mill Brow in College Bank Way, Rochdale, on Monday.

A 45-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Paying tribute, his son Francis said: "We are absolutely devastated and heartbroken by Dad's death."

Mr O'Hanlon's partner Linda added: "Joseph was an incredibly generous man, he was gentle and funny and always tried to help others out, even when he had nothing of his own.

"He was the type of man who could light up a room with his presence."
