Woman arrested after man hit by car in Stalybridge

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of a man who was hit by a car and left in a critical condition.

A 22-year-old man was struck in Demesne Drive, Stalybridge, Tameside, Greater Manchester, at 04:30 GMT on Saturday.

He was taken to hospital with serious head injuries and multiple fractures.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, aggravated taking without consent and multiple driving offences, police said.

Det Insp Paul Walker, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident, but we still want anyone who may have witnessed it to come forward.

"We believe that the man was struck by a blue Renault Capture. If anyone was in the area at the time we would ask them to contact police."
