Two men in court over Salford burning tent death

Two men have appeared in court charged with murder after a homeless man was found dead in a burning tent.

The body of Daniel Smith, 23, was discovered by firefighters under a railway bridge in Irwell Street, Salford, on 20 January.

A post-mortem examination found Mr Smith suffered multiple injuries.

Adam Acton, 24, and Luke Benson, 25, both of no fixed address, were remanded by Manchester Crown Court and are due to appear next on 15 April.

Mr Smith was believed to have been sleeping rough for a number of years.
