Two men charged over Salford burning tent death

Two men have been charged with the murder of a homeless man found dead in a burning tent in Salford.

The body of Daniel Smith, 23, was discovered by firefighters under a railway bridge on Irwell Street at about 01:20 GMT on 20 January.

A post-mortem examination found Mr Smith suffered multiple injuries.

Adam Acton, 24, and Luke Benson, 25, both of no fixed abode, are due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Friday.

Greater Manchester Police said nine other people who were arrested as part of its investigation are no longer in custody.
