Woman dies following suspected West Didsbury hit-and-run

A woman has died following a suspected hit-and-run in Manchester.

Two women were hit by a van at a pedestrian crossing in Princess Parkway, West Didsbury, on 16 January.

A 57-year-old woman has died from her injuries and a woman aged 70 remains in a serious but stable condition.

Two men arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision have been released on bail.

Sgt Mark Thomas said: "Tragically, one of the women has now died from her injuries while the other remains in a serious condition in hospital.

"We are continuing to support their families through this difficult time."
