Hunt for gunman who threatened Wigan PCSOs

A gunman threatened two police community support officers as they responded to reports of a man being assaulted in Greater Manchester.

The officers were confronted after they spotted a man being attacked in Gidlow Lane, Wigan, at 22:00 GMT on Thursday.

The attacker then pointed a handgun at the PCSOs and threatened them.

The suspect - described as white, of medium build, aged between 30 and 40, and speaking with a Liverpool accent, left the scene in a silver BMW.

Greater Manchester Police are also searching for the victim of the assault, who also fled the scene.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.
