Relatives of a 37-year-old woman who died after she was hit by a car say her death has "left a huge hole in the family which can never be filled".

Paula Jolly was killed as she crossed Princess Road in Hulme, Manchester, at about 22:15 GMT on 23 December.

A 45-year-old man, Michael Ward, was also critically injured and died in hospital shortly afterwards.

Ms Jolly's mother, Sylvia, said her daughter had a "heart of gold" and a "wicked sense of fun".

"Paula was a much loved daughter, mum, step daughter, aunty, cousin, niece and friend," she said.

"She will be sorely missed by us all, but her memory will live on."

A 20-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Three other people arrested on suspicion of the same offence remain on police bail.
