Royal Northern College of Music concert hall in Manchester reopens
The concert hall at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester has reopened after a £7.1m revamp.
The venue closed in January for the refurbishment, which includes new seating, new technical facilities, a new balcony and a raised floor area.
The project was part of a wider development featuring a redesign of the backstage area and the building of a conference room and new practice pods.
In response to RNCM's appeal, more than £1.5m in donations was raised.
Linda Merrick, the college's principal, said: "We are thrilled that the concert hall is ready to reopen.
"We have been overwhelmed by the number of supporters who have given so generously.
"It is wonderful to know that the work we do here in Manchester is appreciated so highly."
The nationally renowned music college, in Oxford Road, first opened in 1972.
