Salford man arrested after woman raped while walking dog

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a dog walker in Salford.

The 40-year-old woman was approached by a man near New Bank Towers in the Blackfriars area at about 06:00 BST on Sunday.

As they reached Mount Street, near the back of the Friars Primary School, she was dragged into bushes and raped.

The man, from Salford, was arrested on suspicion of rape and is being questioned by officers.

Det Sgt Julie Connor said "We have worked around the clock to investigate this very serious attack."
