Man accused of raping boy in Arndale centre toilets

A man is to go on trial accused of raping a boy aged 11 in the toilets of a city shopping centre.

The boy was allegedly attacked in Manchester's Arndale shopping centre on 17 October last year.

John Richard Ferrier, 69, of no fixed abode, denies raping a child aged under 16 years.

He was remanded in custody by Manchester Crown Court until his trial, which is due to start on 17 November at the same court.

Mr Ferrier, formerly of Ormskirk Road, Wigan, admitted two counts of possessing a bladed article.
