Man admits stealing signed Manchester United shirts

A man who worked at Manchester United Football Club has admitted stealing signed football shirts and memorabilia from the club.

Geoffrey Brophy, 50, was accused of theft by abuse of position and burglary between 2006 and 2014.

At Manchester Crown Court, Brophy, of Duchy Street, Salford, admitted stealing thousands of pounds' worth of merchandise.

He is due to be sentenced at the same court on 12 August.

Brophy has never been directly employed by Manchester United, the club said.
