A teenage girl is facing an arson charge after a blaze that claimed the life of a firefighter.

The 15-year-old is due in court after the fire at Paul's Hair World in Manchester last July, which left Stephen Hunt, 38, with fatal injuries.

Greater Manchester Police said the girl was served with a summons on Monday.

The girl, who cannot be named because of her age, is due to appear before Manchester Magistrate's Court on 2 June.

Mr Hunt was among 60 firefighters called to the fire in Oldham Street.

The blaze started in an underground store-room.

The father-of-two was based at Manchester's Philips Park Fire Station.
