Demolition work starts later on a Victorian mill that sustained storm damage last month causing homes and businesses to be evacuated.

The roof of New Mill in Park Road, Dukinfield partially collapsed during bad weather on 20 February.

Tameside Council said the building suffered severe structural damage in an earlier storm.

Dozens of residents have not been able to return home. The council expects the demolition to last two weeks.

The council, which has declared the building structurally unsafe, said it hoped to return the residents as soon as possible.
