Youth in court over Dale Street, Manchester canal fall attack
A 17-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with assault after two men fell into a canal in Manchester city centre.
A 34-year-old man was attacked as he walked along the canal in Dale Street on Sunday evening.
He managed to pull himself out but a 25-year-old man who also fell in, is said to be critical in hospital.
The boy was remanded by magistrates to appear at Manchester Crown Court on 4 February. He has been charged with two counts of assault.
The teenager has also been charged with obstructing police.
