The funeral has taken place of a 12-year-old girl whose death at a "dangerous" crossing has sparked a petition signed by thousands of people.

Annalise Holt died when she was hit by a van on a zebra crossing in Milnrow Road, Shaw, last month.

Her funeral began at 14:00 GMT at Oldham Crematorium.

The petition, started after her death, is calling for a pelican crossing at the site and has attracted more than 5,680 signatures.

Oldham Council has said it will not comment about the safety of the crossing until after the end of the police investigation.

However, councillors are to discuss whether converting the zebra crossing into a pelican crossing is a viable idea.
