An 18-year-old man who died following a motorbike crash in Salford has been described as a "ray of sunshine" by his family.

Police said Tom Ackerley, from Salford, suffered serious injuries when he fell off his Honda bike and was hit by a taxi and a car.

He was taken to Salford Royal Hospital after the Bolton Road collision on Wednesday and later died.

Police are trying to establish the "full circumstances" of the crash.

In a statement, Mr Ackerley's family said: "Tom was the most beautiful, precious son ever. He was a much loved son, brother, uncle, cousin, grandson and friend.

"He was polite, outgoing, friendly, kind-hearted and was a special person with good morals.

"Tom was the light of our lives and will be missed by so many people.

"He had recently started a college course in car graphic design, which he was very excited about and was something he loved.

"The world will be a sorrier place without him."
