A CCTV image has been released of a motorist wanted after a hit and run driver knocked down a pedestrian and watched him being treated before driving off.

The pedestrian was knocked over by a silver saloon car on Upper Brook Street near Manchester Royal Infirmary at around 18:00 GMT on 3 November.

He suffered serious internal injuries and a fractured eye socket.

Police have urged the driver and the four witnesses to contact them.

Officers said the driver of the car, believed to be a Toyota Avensis, initially stopped and returned to the scene where the pedestrian was being treated by passing nurses and staff from the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

He then got back in the car and left before police arrived.

The pedestrian has been discharged from hospital, police said, and he is recovering from his injuries.
