Man held over alleged sexual assault at Chetham's School of Music
A man has been arrested on suspicion of a serious sexual assault on a schoolgirl in Manchester in the 1970s.
The arrest was made by detectives investigating historical sexual abuse at Chetham's School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music.
The 65-year-old man is suspected of the indecent assault and serious sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl while she was a Chetham's pupil, police said.
He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
The man is the third person to be arrested and released on bail as part of the enquiry.
He was a teacher at the time but is not employed there currently, it is understood.
Detectives said they were investigating 10 suspected offenders after more than 30 women reported incidents of abuse at the music school.
The investigation follows the conviction of former choirmaster Michael Brewer, 68, for abusing pupil Frances Andrade at the school in the 1970s and 1980s.
Ms Andrade is believed to have killed herself after giving evidence in the trial.
