Man critical after mobility scooter crash

A 64-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after a collision between his mobility scooter and a car in Greater Manchester, police said.

The incident happened on Manchester Road at the junction with Crowthorn Road in Ashton-under-Lyne, at about 18:35 GMT on Sunday, police said.

The rider of the scooter, which was on the cycle path, sustained serious injuries to his head and legs.

The driver of the white Vauxhall Astra Estate car was uninjured.
