Man charged over indecent images investigation in Bolton

A 38-year-old man has been charged by police investigating the possession and distribution of indecent images in Greater Manchester.

Iain Merrick, of Cheriton Gardens, Bolton, was charged with 22 offences including possessing indecent images and possessing extreme pornography.

The charges also include one of placing an explosive substance with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear before Manchester City Magistrates' Court on 5 December.

The charges relate to an incident on 5 September when police searched two houses in Horwich as part of an ongoing investigation into the possession and distribution of indecent images in Bolton.

The raids were supported by officers from the North West Counter Terrorism Unit.

Charges faced by Mr Merrick also include possession of an indecent photograph and two offences of distribution of an indecent image.
