Woman dies two days after attack in Bury

A woman has died after she was found with head injuries following an attack at a Greater Manchester house.

Police were called to Broad Oak Lane, Bury, at 02:00 BST on Thursday and the 43-year-old woman was taken to hospital, where she later died.

A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Both have been bailed until December pending further inquiries.

Police said they were keeping an "open mind" about the cause of the woman's injuries.

Officers were continuing with inquiries at Broad Oak Lane and a second address on Topping Fold Road to establish the circumstances of the death.
