The family of a woman who died after she was knocked down by a bus in Greater Manchester has said she will be "sadly missed".

Stephanie Talbot, 31, was struck by the bus on Platt Street in Platt Bridge, Wigan, just before 08:45 BST on Friday.

Greater Manchester Police said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the bus was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed until 21 November pending further inquiries.

Miss Talbot's parents, Ray and Carole, said: "Stephanie had had a troubled past and had suffered a lot of misery in her life, however, she had just been successful in getting a new job. This had created a real spark in her life.

"She will be sadly missed by her family and we all love her and hope that she is now resting in peace."
