Two men arrested over Salford flat death

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Salford.

Police were called to a flat on Sycamore Court in Pendleton at around 01:30 BST following reports that a man had suffered a serious chest injury.

Paramedics pronounced the 39-year-old man dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination will take place later to establish the cause of his death.

Two men, aged 65 and 45, were arrested and remain in police custody.

Det Insp Andy Cunliffe said the man's death appeared to be "an isolated incident".

He added that the investigation was "at an early stage and a team of detectives are investigating the circumstances leading up to this man's death".
