Ecstasy and drink warning after Manchester clubbers taken to hospital

Four clubbers were taken to hospital after mixing alcohol with the illegal drug ecstasy in Manchester.

Three ambulance crews were called to Sankeys nightclub on Radium Street, Ancoats, shortly before 02:30 GMT.

Two men and two women were taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary with one woman discharging herself later.

A 19-year-old woman and two men, aged 19 and 21, were kept overnight for observation. They are all expected to make a full recovery.

Det Insp Julian Flindle, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "At least four people have suffered the ill-effects of mixing alcohol with what we believe to be ecstasy, and while they were treated in hospital, thankfully there are no major concerns regarding their health."

He added: "No doubt there will be a few people who were in the club last night who are not feeling particularly great today, but if anyone did take ecstasy or any other illegal drugs and is concerned please seek medical advice.

"I would also ask anyone who might have information about anyone selling drugs in or around the club to call me or my team."
