Bid to trace Manchester street attack victim's family

Police are trying to trace the family of a man who was left critically injured in a fight in Manchester.

Saudi national Ibrahim Alharbi, 19, suffered serious head injuries in the disturbance near Bar 38 on Peter Street just before 03:45 GMT on Saturday.

A group of men involved then walked off towards Manchester 365 Casino on Watson Street.

Detectives believe Mr Alharbi is a student in Manchester and are keen for anyone who knows him to contact them.

Det Con Steve Lowton said: "Ibrahim has suffered very serious injuries as a result of this attack and it is vitally important we get in touch with his relatives.

"If anyone is a friend of Ibrahim or has any information that might assist I would urge them to call us as soon as possible.

"We are also appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

"We know there was quite a large group in the area at the time and not all would have been involved so I would encourage those people to think about the consequences of this assault and call us to tell us what you know."
