Train fire at Manchester Piccadilly Station

A train has caught fire at Piccadilly Station in Manchester city centre.

The fire broke out in the stationary train's engine just after 18:00 GMT, the fire service said.

A spokesman said no-one was injured and the train, which was standing at platform 14, was empty by the time appliances arrived.

Fire investigators believe hydraulic oil may have sprayed on to the diesel engine causing flames to appear. Services to Stockport are delayed.
