Man charged over £38,000 cable theft in Oldham

A man has been charged after £38,000 worth of suspected stolen copper cable was recovered in Oldham.

It comes after reports of copper piping being stripped on Middleton Road in Royton on 5 September.

The cable was later found and the man was arrested. Greater Manchester Police said a 31-year-old man has now been charged with handling stolen goods.

He is due to appear before Oldham Magistrates' Court on 14 November, the force said.
