Greater Manchester Police inspector in corruption probe

A police officer has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and misconduct in a public office.

It is understood he is Insp Mohammed Razaq, 51, a Greater Manchester Police (GMP) neighbourhood officer who is based in Bolton.

Another man, 52, a civilian, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Both were bailed. GMP's professional standards branch is handling the case.

A police spokesman said: "Two men have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

"One of them, a 51-year-old man who is also a serving officer from Bolton, was also arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.

"He and a 52-year-old man have been bailed pending further inquiries."
