M60 motorway crash man thrown into oncoming traffic

A man is in a serious condition after being thrown from his car into oncoming traffic during a motorway crash.

The victim was in one of two vehicles which spun out of control after they collided on the westbound carriageway of the M60, near Ashton-under-Lyne.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Fire Service said the man was flung across the central reservation on to the opposite carriageway.

Two other men were cut free from the wreckage and taken to hospital.

They had head, back and neck injuries, as well as fractured legs.

All three lanes of the carriageway, between junctions 22 and 23, were closed after the collision while emergency crews attended the scene.
