Bez assaulted his ex-girlfriend Monica Ward in a row over money

Ex-Happy Mondays dancer Bez is wanted by Greater Manchester Police after he failed to answer bail over allegations he breached a restraining order.

His former partner Monica Ward claims the 46-year-old has pestered her with texts and calls since he was convicted of assaulting her in August.

Earlier this month Bez - real name Mark Berry - was bailed over accusations he broke his order by contacting Ms Ward.

He has now missed his latest police appointment, sparking a wanted alert.

Greater Manchester Police said Bez was due to sign in at a police station on November 17 but failed to do so.

Money rage

Bez had been living at a friend's house in Urmston, Greater Manchester, but has not been contactable since the bail breach claims.

The dancer, who found fame with the Happy Mondays in the late 1980s, flew into a rage about money and throttled Ms Ward in May, a court hearing was told.

He was originally given a community service order for the assault on the mother of his two-year-old son, but refused to comply with the sentence and was jailed for four weeks by magistrates in Manchester.

A police spokesman said: "A man is wanted for breaching a restraining order.

"Mark Berry failed to answer police bail and has not made contact with the police.

"Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police on 0161 856 7574."
