Men with axes rob William Hill bookmakers in Denton


Masked men armed with axes have robbed a bookmakers in Greater Manchester.

One of them dragged the duty manager into a back room and stole a quantity of cash during the raid at William Hill in Manchester Road, Denton, shortly before 1800 GMT on Saturday.

The three also stole cash from the till before fleeing in a dark saloon car.

Det Insp David Loughlin said: "It is unacceptable that shop workers should be subjected to violence when they are simply trying to go about their job."

He appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

"We know how much misery these sorts of criminals can cause and this force has made it an absolute priority to target robbers and burglars and use every method at our disposal to identify them and lock them up," he added.
