A university student reported missing when she failed to turn up at home for Christmas has been found in north London.

Isabel Gayther, who lives in halls of residence in New Cross, south-east London, had not been seen since about 11:30 GMT on Christmas Eve.

The Met said officers had seen and spoken to the 21-year-old and were "satisfied she is safe and well".

Her disappearance was described as "extremely out of character".

Posts on her Facebook account on 27 December had suggested she was "not missing" and had not come to harm.

Her family live in Oxford.
