Met police officer charged with attempted rape

A serving Metropolitan police officer has been charged with attempted rape.

PC James McKibbin, 30, was off duty when he allegedly carried out the attack in South Croydon, south London, in 2012.

Mr McKibbin, who works in Richmond, has been bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday.

He was arrested in April after a Met investigation and was charged on 7 November. He is currently on restricted duties.
