A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a banker killed in a reported single-punch attack in south east London.

Oliver Dearlove died in hospital after allegedly being hit by a man while waiting for a taxi in Blackheath.

A post-mortem examination gave the provisional cause of his death as a head injury.

A 31-year-old was arrested earlier on suspicion of the killing and of actual bodily harm, police said.

Mr Dearlove from Eltham, who worked for Duncan Lawrie Private Bank, was in Tranquil Vale with friends when he was attacked.

The suspect is alleged to have approached the group, attacking one of his friends before punching Mr Dearlove at around 12.45 BST on Sunday.

Det Ch Insp Lee Watling said: "Our investigation is continuing and we've made huge progress in identifying key witnesses and recovering vital CCTV."

He asked for any witnesses to come forward.
