A train had to be lifted to free a woman whose foot got stuck between the carriage and the platform on the London Underground.

The passenger was trapped for more than 40 minutes while the rescue operation at Canning Town station took place.

The site was temporarily closed to avoid overcrowding while a jack was used to move the train.

London Ambulance Service said it treated the woman at the scene for minor injuries.
