Bus and van crash in Leyton sees seven in hospital

Seven people have been taken to hospital after a crash between a bus and a van in Leyton, north east London.

The collision involving a number 48 bus happened on Lea Bridge Road at 06:33 GMT, the London Ambulance Service said.

Both the driver of the bus and the van have been taken to hospital along with several passengers, said police. The van driver has chest and leg injuries.

The most injured of the seven hospitalised people was treated as a priority, said the ambulance service.

Five more people at the scene of the crash were checked and discharged, the ambulance service said. Police and firefighters also attended the crash.

Four ambulances attended the incident, the service said, while the Met Police said road closures were in place.

The Met said its inquiries into what caused the accident were continuing.
