Man charged with care home arson fire in Barking

A man has been charged with arson after a fire tore through the ground floor of a care home in east London.

A woman, 43, with learning disabilities was rescued from the Beccles Drive property in Barking on 13 November.

Sabbir Ahmed, 22, of Doveton Street, Bethnal Green, is charged with arson with intent to endanger life and recklessness with intent to endanger life.

He will appear at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Two other men, aged 21 and 22, have been arrested on suspicion of arson. Both have been bailed until January 2016.
