A murder victim whose decomposing body was found partially buried in Epping Forest has been identified.

Hidir Aksakal, who was also known as Boxer Cetin and Musa Yakut, was found near Hollow Ponds on Wednesday night.

Mr Aksakal, 53 and a Turkish national, was living in Margate, Kent, but had previously lived in the Green Lanes area of Haringey, where he was last seen alive on 17 August.

The Met appealed for witnesses who saw him after this date to contact them.

Detective Ch Insp Jamie Piscopo said: "Mr Aksakal was well known locally as 'Boxer Cetin' or 'Cetin Boxer' and we are hopeful that those in the Green Lanes community may have information to help with our investigation.

"People should be reassured that they can speak to us in complete confidence."
