Woman shot dead in Holloway house

A woman has been killed in a shooting at a house in north London.

The victim, who has not been identified, was found with serious injuries at an address in Loraine Road, Holloway, at about 09:35 GMT.

Metropolitan Police officers carried out first aid until paramedics arrived but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a gun has been recovered, police said.

Detectives believe the arrested man and the shot woman were known to each other.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out later.

In a statement, the Met Police said: "At around 09:35 GMT officers on patrol in Tollington Road and Hornsey Road were alerted to a woman shot at an address in nearby Loraine Road.

"Officers attended the Loraine Road address and found the woman suffering serious injuries.

"First aid was administered by officers until the arrival of London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance, however the woman was later pronounced dead at the scene."
