Greenwich petrol pump arsonist caught on CCTV
CCTV footage showing the moment a man started a fire at a petrol station has been released by police.
The arsonist is seen walking up to a pump before squirting some petrol on the floor, on 30 September.
He then places an item - possibly a piece of cloth or paper - in the pump before setting it alight.
A member of the public is then seen using a fire extinguisher to put out the blaze a the BP garage in Greenwich, south-east London.
After starting the fire the man runs off.
Det Cons Karl Buckwell said: "This was an incredibly dangerous and reckless thing to do - there were cars and people filling up in the petrol station.
"The petrol station is surrounded by flats and is located on a very busy road.
"We believe that the person seen setting the fire in the footage would have been caught in it and may have burnt his eyebrows as well as his hair."
