A busy road into London was closed both ways after a coach caught fire.

The A40 Western Avenue was shut in Acton, west London between Savoy Circus and the Northern roundabout.

Eastbound has now fully reopened while one lane has been opened westbound. Transport for London said significant delays remain in the area.

London Fire Brigade says it was called just before 18:00 BST. It said the bus was destroyed in fire but did not believe there were any injuries.

The spokeswoman added that she did not yet know about the driver, but London Ambulance Service said it had received no reports of any injuries.

Some 20 firefighters are at the scene of the blaze which has now been put out.

It is not yet known what caused the incident in the coach, which belongs to Golden Tours.

Last June, a bus from the same company caught fire on the M4 in west London.
