A man who stole a handbag from a woman knocked unconscious by a moped, has been jailed for eight months.

The woman was hit on Cambridge Circus by a moped involved in a raid on London's Dorchester Hotel on 10 June.

As she lay unconscious, her bag was stolen. She was taken to hospital with leg injuries but has since been discharged.

Craig Edwards, 34, of Great Chapel Street, central London, was jailed at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

He had admitted theft at an earlier hearing.

Edwards was arrested after an officer spotted him in the area, two days after he stole the handbag.

Police are still appealing for information about six men involved in the robbery at the Dorchester.
