Appeal over petrol can after Antonio Tommaso stab death
Police have appealed to members of the public who may have seen a man carrying a red petrol can after a body was found in burnt-out flat in north London.
The body of Antonio Tommaso was found after firefighters were called to the flat at Sheridan Lodge, Potters Road, in New Barnet, on Thursday.
His death was not thought to be suspicious but post-mortem tests found he died of multiple stab wounds.
Detectives said a red petrol can was also found at the scene.
Police believe the killer returned to the flat and set fire to the property.
Det Ch Insp Glen Lloyd said: "We believe that they have returned with an old-fashioned red petrol can.
"So I'm interested, did anyone see someone walking around on Thursday evening when the fire was set carrying an red old-fashioned petrol can?
"Or were you at a petrol station seeing someone fill up with an old-fashioned red petrol can?"
Mr Tommaso had been dead for two to three days prior to the flat being set alight, tests have shown.
