A man has denied sending an abusive message to MP Stella Creasy on Twitter.

Peter Nunn, 32, from Emersons Green, Bristol, pleaded not guilty at Westminster Magistrates' Court in central London.

He is charged with sending a message that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character by a public electronic network between 28 July and 5 August last year.

The date for his trial was provisionally set for 19 May.

He is charged under section 127 of the Communications Act (2003).

Ms Creasy, Labour MP for Walthamstow, was targeted, along with campaigner Caroline Criado-Perez, after she took part in efforts to ensure a woman featured on British banknotes.
