Woman remanded over murder attempt on mother

A woman has been remanded in custody charged with the attempted murder of her mother, following raids by counter-terrorism officers last week.

Kuntal Patel, 36, of Park Road, Stratford, east London, has been charged with the attempted murder of Meena Patel, a serving magistrate.

The alleged offence took place between 10 December last year and 26 January, Westminster Magistrates' Court heard.

Police raided three two properties in Streatham Hill and one in Stratford.

Officers were seen wearing protective clothing and breathing equipment as they searched two properties in Wyatt Park Road and one in Stratford, at which Ms Patel was arrested.

She will appear at the Old Bailey on 21 February.
